iPod touch users lag on iPhone OS 3.0 adoption
According to new data from online advertising firm Chitika, nearly half of all iPod touch users have yet to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0... As Chitika researcher Daniel Ruby points out, this number becomes even more surprising when one considers that the majority of iPod touch units sold in the last six months came with OS 3.0 pre-installed.
Nearly half the iPod touch users refuse to pay $5-$10 to update to iPhone OS 3.x
According to a Chitika Research survey, 94.4 percent of iPhone owners run iPhone OS 3.x versus 55.24 percent of iPod touch owners who have the latest software. The online advertising firm said those numbers are even more indicative considering the fact that all iPod touch devices shipped over the past six months come with iPhone OS 3.0 preloaded.
Survey: 45% of iPod touch users running old firmware
Chitika Research, a company that helps deliver online advertising, has released numbers from its network that claim 45% of iPod touch users still haven't upgraded to the iPhone 3.x firmware.

Chitika Offers a Different Take on Ads
Chitika has three very different ad offerings. The one I've had the most success with is Chitika|Premium. This ad unit it similar to AdSense in that it is a target rectangle of ads on your page. It is unlike AdSense in that it is targeted based on the search engine queries that lead people to that page.

Jensense with Chitika at SESNY
At SES New York, I was one of the guest judges for Chitika’s SearchAppalooza, to find the best new search app for 2009 (and there was also a pretty hysterical Oreo cookie eating contest at the end). Video of JenSense here.
We can conclude from this experiment that size and placement of the adverts are very important to your success with online pay-per-click (PPC) advertising
With some input from Chitika's team, we made a few tweaks to the size and style of the advert... The results? Pretty amazing considering how little effort was involved.

Chitika performs very good for all websites. The sites AdSense performs bad for are the sites Chitika performs very good for.
Poor text-content websites for example. Chitika is able to display relevant ads for the visitor by just analyzing the tiny search string which reveals what the visitor was actually looking for!
Impressive Chitika - 3 time increase in income over 6 months
Now I am about to complete using Chitika as a Google Adsense Alternative in few of my sites. I must say, I am extremely happy with the Chitika performance.
Chitika|Premium is a CPC search-targeted advertising solution brought to you by Chitika.
It can be run on the same page as Google AdSense, or on its own as an AdSense alternative.
Chitika Premium is a clever ad programme with clever adverts that only appear to visitors who have come from North America via search engines.
They sit quietly on your blog, and stay invisible unless you receive ne of these visitors. Then the ad unit turns itself and appears however you have designed it inside your blog post. The really clever bit is that the advert is selected based on the keyword that the visitor was searching for.
